Coeur d'Alene Parkinson's Support Group & Caregivers Group

The Coeur d’Alene Parkinson’s Support Group is for men and women with Parkinson’s, their families and caregivers. It is free. We meet on the 1st Thursday of every month (with the exception of July 4th and Thanksgiving ) at the Elks Lodge, 1170 W Prairie Ave. We offer information and emotional support, and often have speakers from the medical community.
NEW TIME! On the days we meet at the Elks, a complementary lunch will be served from 12:00 to 12:45 P.M. Please come and socialize. The group meeting will start at 1:00 P.M. and go until 2:30.
Next meeting is on July 11th.
There will not be a support group meeting on JuIy 4th. We will be having a PICNIC on July 11th, at the Landings Park, 3849 Long Meadow Drive, CDA. We will provide hamburgers and hot dogs and all the fixings. If you are able to and are so inclined, please bring dessert or salad to share.

The PICNIC on July 11th is CANCELLED.

The next speaker is Beth Gwinn, from Oasis Senior Advisors. When you need senior living solutions like assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing, she provides compassionate, one-on-one assistance to find the right fit for you.

Music and Wellness

We meet on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and sometimes 5th Thursdays, from 11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. This is a great group for increasing the volume of your voice and helping with the clarity of your speech. Our certified music therapist, Carla Carnegie, is a lot of fun and brings rhythm instruments to keep everyone involved. No singing ability needed. We are currently meeting at the Elks Lodge at 1170 West Prairie Avenue, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. ​
This month’s classes are on July 18th, and 25th.

Moving to the Music

This is a super fun, easy line dance type class that meets on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursdays of each month from 12:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. It is held at the Elk’s. Lodge, 1170 West Prairie Avenue, Coeur d’Alene. Come and participate to whatever degree you are able. Wheelchairs and walkers are okay. Just do what you can and enjoy the music and comradery.
There will be class on June 20th and 27th, but we will not be having class on July 4th or July 11th. We will resume on JuIy 18th and have class on July 25th.
Socialization and consistent exercise have been proven to slow the progression of Parkinson’s.

Women with Parkinson's Support Group

We meet every 3rd Thursday from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. at MacKenzie River Pizza at 405 West Canfield Avenue, Coeur d’Alene. It is a great get-together for women with Parkinson’s to socialize, lend emotional support and share information.
We have a Scholarship Fund to buy your lunch if there is a financial need. Let Bonnie or Beth know before ordering.
This class has been cancelled for June 20th, June 27th, July 4th and July 11th. We will resume on July 18th.

Balloon Badminton

Yes, there really is a game called Balloon Badminton. It is a lot of fun when you get a lot of balloons going and a lot of people out there. Please join us on the 2nd, 3rd and 5th Thursdays of the month at the Elks Lodge, 1140 W. Prairie, CDA at 1:00 p.m.
There will not be class on June 20th, but there will be class on June 27th. We will not be having class on July 4th or July 11th. We will resume on JuIy 18th and have class on July 25th.
